We are pleased to introduce EventON 4.7. Pathway for a new era with AI integration with EventON. With this update we made several UI changes and resolved several known issues.

Key Updates in Admin Side

UI for Event Edit

We are implementing UI design updates in align with WordPress block designs for event edit settings panel.

EventON Block Interactions

With 4.7 we integrated interactive controls for eventON calendar block, that allow you to change yes no values and remove certain calendar parameters easily from the block.

Language UI Update

We have updated the UI and interactions on eventON language settings, to allow easily search text strings and to add translated text easily. We have set a path for AI-generated translated text in future updates.

EventON License Info

We have also updated the license settings UI and information. You can now find more information about licenses once they are activated, so it can be easily transferred between sites.

Icon Selection UI

We have also updated the UI for icon selection in eventON settings. Future updates to eventON addons will integrate these changes as well.

Various other known issues were resolved in this update.

Much appreciate your patience and support for eventON since 2011. This update to EventON took a bit of time as we addressed many known issues. I want to highlight some of those items as this update will pave the way for 4.6.

CSRF Validations

There were several XSS vulnerabilities identified in the previous version and in EventON and EventON Lite we have addressed those to include authorisation and nonce validation for added validations before sending data.

Timezone & Correct Event Times

In the previous version we made changes to the way event time is calculated and there were several issues, which we were able to address in 4.5.5 — All day events will now have correct times according to the timezone for the event. Month and Year long events time calculation has also been corrected according to the event timezone.

Bulk Edit Events

Previously we had yes/no button for bulk edit which was pointed to us by a client that does not work for editing bulk events. We have now switched those to select boxes with option for No change.

Related Events Selection from Event Edit

The query and calculations of related events were not showing events with same times and we addressed that and added an event count as well to search bar, for some added coolness.

WP Query Method in Settings

When we turned to 2024, several of our clients noticed their calendar events were not showing. The reason is, that the WP Query method was set to query only event posts created in 2024, which was none. So we added a new option to query event posts created in the last 12 months as well.

Others & Going Forward

Please find below the complete changelog for various other improvements that were made in 4.5.5. In the new year of 2024, we hope to make some more much-needed refreshes to several of our addons such as Event Slider etc. We are also planning to build several new exciting addons. Also in the cards, is our works for continuous improvements to the eventON code base to improve calendar loading speed. We are throwing the idea of indexing events so events in certain date ranges and criteria can be called up rather quickly as we are seeing how tax queries are rather taxing on some clients’ servers.

Let’s do this guys! The big 4.5 with many adds and fixes, including an exciting event gradient colors!

Gradient Event Colors

Introducing the gradient colors for events! We have added an option to enable and set secondary event color to create cool gradients for events! You can set the custom gradient angle as well. These gradient colors will appear on eventtop with full color background.

Zoom S2S OAuth

We are enabling the updated zoom connectivity as zoom deprecates their APIs. You can now enable the OAuth set up from eventON settings and get that moving smoothly.

Two new tile styles

Details on the right side of the event date. We have seen many of our customers trying their best to customize eventON to get a look similar to this. So we have now made it for you without needing customization.

No details, bare minimal tile with just event title. Idea here is to drive curiosity from visitors to click on the event box which will open lightbox window to reveal more information.

Reset Button for the calendar Search bar

After someone type text to search in the calendar, a reset button will appear giving them option to click that button and reset the calendar events back to before.

Two new Event Status

This was requested from feature requests while back and we have now added it into eventON, to support 2 additional event statuses for events that are not 100% on the time. There is also pluggable filter to add more event statuses.

Single Event Data Values

So we have upgraded the single events, shortcode section to support an additional Single event display style – Only selected event data. This will publish on front-end, just bare data values for the selected event data for the event set. It will not have any HTML elements.

Move month and year events to bottom

We’ve had the month and year-long events move to top feature, and now we have added the ability move those to bottom of the list as well. This is another feature request from our helpdesk, thank you guys!

Search Field to Related Events Selection

Another feature request from helpdesk coming to fruition. If you have 100s of events, it can be tedious to find those events, so this real-time fast search bar should help. It is run by javascript on the client-side, so should work super fast.

Customize how EventTop Organizer click action works

Since we introduced the organizer more information lightbox direct from eventtop, we’ve had several questions to remove them and modify them etc. so we are now adding the option for you to choose how you want this click action to function

Very Important, Before Update

Make sure you backup current version of the addons before you update to latest versions. We have test the hell out of it, but we are still humans and we make mistakes. So if there are issues on your website after the update, have a copy of the current version ready to revert back to.

So, What is New?

We made lot of design updates to all the ticket addons – to bring them up to current design trends.

Dynamic Lightbox-based modular ajax requests have also been implemented heavily on all the addons replacing old static codes, that were cumbersome to load on to pages. Now this content is loaded only if needed.

Show Attendees Anywhere

With the shortcode generator [evotx_attendees] you can show all the event attendees for certain events, anywhere on your website now.

Clean Admin Event Edit Ticket Settings

Ticket edit settings were getting quite cumbersome on the event edit page and it was slowing the event edit page. So we have now moved those settings to load via ajax – most importantly, only when needed.

Admin Event Tickets Filter

Events > All Event Tickets now offer filtering tickets by certain events.

View Attendees Search

View attendees lightbox in the admin side now has a fast search bar. Which will allow you to search attendees by ticket id, name, or email.

EventON Webhook Support

Tickets addon support 2 webhooks, when a tickets are created for an order and when ticket stock is modified – such as refunded, cancelled status of an order change ticket stock.

Lightbox Based Inquire Before Buy Form

We have upgraded the inquire before buy form, to have a stronger presence than before. It is now loaded via lightbox.

How About Variations & Options v1.1

Settings Moved Cleanly to Lightbox

Just like event tickets settings, variations and options settings have also been moved into lightbox to improve speed on the page and to create ease on the page.

We have made several design upgrades to seat map editor in-line with current design trends.

Seat Booths (Beta)

We are introducing booths for seat. It is still in beta stage and we are hoping to improve on this in the coming updates. A booth has 1 space and can be set a price. Once a booth is purchased it will show on the front-end with a check mark.

Booking v1.4 Gets Several Fixes

Bookings addon also been updated to new designs. We were able to get several important issues resolved in this new version.

4.4 we are bringing some internal changes and improvements to EventON calendar.

FSE Theme Support

In the new version, we are adding support for full site editing themes for event pages and event taxonomy pages. At the moment you can customize the single event page layout from EventON Settings > EventCard Design. We are hoping in the future to add more support for block editor to customize single event pages.

Endpoint AJAX

The other big change we did in 4.4 is the endpoint-based AJAX requests instead of the old admin-ajax.php. We are hoping this will speed up the calendar load times, switching months, searching events, filtering events and sorting events.

Apart from this we have several other minor design and code improvement changes in the 4.4.

You can now download a CSV file of event data from wp-admin > event edit page. This CSV file will have all the event data in it.

EventTop hover border left size is also now easily changeable via eventON Settings.

Apart from these items, we have done several fixes on issues and made minor design and layout improvements.

Much appreciate your patience as we push through a much-needed improvements to EventON following the holiday season.

The biggest Improvements in 4.3 are:

Event Edit Settings to load via AJAX

As a way to improve event edit page load speed, we switched to AJAX based event edit loading on the admin side. This method helped us cut down on wp queries seriously on page load. We hope you will notice this change.

Multi Data Type Editing Fields

We added multi-data type custom fields to appear in editing and add new term pages.

Repeating URL ../var/ri-current

You can now pass a custom repeat event url as ri-current to load the current active event in the series of repeating events.

Schedule View Location and Organizers

Via shortcode, you can now enable schedule view to show location and organizer data as well. The idea of schedule view is to maintain a very basic view of all the events in a clean design. We were able to add this new data and still maintain that design elements.

Social Share New Options: Whatsapp, copy link

You can now enable WhatsApp share and copy event link to clipboard options under social share.

Shortcode Generator via AJAX

We also moved the shortcode generator to load content via ajax. We discovered this reduced several wp_query requests and increased page load times.

The 4.2 update brings many intricate changes to EventON calendar and its system and the aesthetics of the calendar as we move into a new phase of EventON design.

Big Back-end UI Design Changes

New Settings design that will be universal for eventON and its addons and will be adopted by the addons in the coming weeks.

Edit event page design has also been changed slightly to match Block editor design.

New Default Font Family

We are moving away from open sans and roboto to a more bold font family in Montserrat and Noto sans. Of course this can be changed to your desired font via settings.

New High Contrast Colors

We are also switching to very high contract font colors for calendar header from our faded title colors as we find this to be more suited for current design trends. As always colors, can be easily editted via Appearance Settings.

New Single Event Page Only Style : Immersive Flow

This style is only available in single event page at the moment. It will immerse with the background color of the page and will look as if the event is part of your website.

Customizable Linkable No Events Box

You can now customize the no events box with subtitle and have it linked to a custom link. We are hoping to add addon support for this in the future. So the no events can be linked to add new event form via ActionUser Addon. etc.

Load Google Maps On Events Dynamically

$.fn.evo_load_gmap

function will allow you to run the function on event google map DOM element and generate the map at later point when page is loaded.

Filtering in Standalone Search Box

Searching via standalone search box will now support sorting and filtering as well.

Filter Improvement

We added clear filter and filter indications when events are filtered by the user on front-end.

New Organizer Info Lightbox

We’ve added a new learn more button that can open a lightbox with more information about the event organizer! This lightbox is similar to an organizer archive page, at the moment and we are hoping to improve this further and allow addons to add information here as well.

This organizer details can also be opened from eventtop organizer name.

Multiple Organizers for an Event

4.2 support setting multiple organizers for an event. Using our generalized taxonomy selector that we are using for location, multi data types and organizers in 4.2

Updated Related Events Design

We also made minor design adjustments to related events so they stand better with the rest of the event details.

Various Other Improvements

We have fixed various bugs and have made various improvements to several parts of the calender from front-end perspective as well as from a coding point of view.

We feel very excited about the changes we were able to make to EventON and we look forward to making many more improvements as wordpress moving towards Block editor.

EventON

With this update to EventON several important things were added.

1. Couple of new widgets

I know some of you wanted to show upcoming events in the widget and it was proving little confusing so we included several new widgets for upcoming list and event type only events calendars.

2. Ultra repeater

This is a huge addition. I admin before this our repeating feature for events werent that strong.

The new custom repeat feature push this to new heights. You can use the default monthly, weekly, and yearly repeats to generate a base for repeating values and switch to custom method and then now you can take out of add custom repeat times that does not have to follow the schemes.

We are also including the dailyRepeat addon in the base plugin now allowing you to repeat events daily.

I hope you find this very exciting as we take eventon further to greater heights.

3. Feature Events

You can now feature events direct from the event edit page.

I know this was a very basic thing that was missing. But now its added into the event edit page for easy featuring of events.

4. Activation System Update

I know this is a very heated topic in our forum. To give you a little inside view, what was happening was eventon users using our update server immensely to check for updates availability have caused major issues in our server and we had to shut that down. So now we are splitting this into  5 different locations and eventON will only run update checker every 24 hours.

Also the activation of eventON and its plugins has been moved into the plugin so it doesn’t use our server resources anymore. This should make the activation process seamless from now on.

The new update also include several other bug fixes and updates to code to support several future features we are working on which are still in test stages
